How to set up a new geofence alert

How to set up a new geofence alert

To set up a new geofence alert go to Services management --> Alert triggers --> click on 'Setup alert'.

Select trigger

Choose whether the alert should be triggered when a vehicle either:

  • Enters the zone
  • Goes out of the zone

Note if you want to set up an alert when a vehicle enters and exits a zone you will need to set up two separate alerts.

Choose segment of vehicles

You can set up the following segments:

  • Vehicle categories
  • Stations
  • Greenway status

Note that if these are left blank then the default trigger will be set to 'all'.

Alert name

You can set up the following:

  • Name of the alert (this will be displayed in the alerts overview page, in the alert information page and in the vehicle page under the 'Alerts' tab)
  • Description (this will only be visible in the alert page)
  • Severity (this is displayed in the alert information page)

To show in alert details

Here you can set up what information is shown in the alert details section on the vehicle information page:

  • Station name
  • Position of the car
  • Greenway status
  • Movement details

Drawing the geofence zone

To draw the geofence zone click on 'Draw new zone'. Please ensure you allow the Connected Car Portal to view your location when it asks for permission to do so - this makes it easier to use. Alternatively you can use the 'search location' field to type the address. Then fill in the 'Add alert zone' information:

  • Zone name: Add a name for the zone you are drawing
  • Choose your zone shape: either circle or polygon

Then draw your zone on the map. When you are happy with it click 'Create'. Until all information is completed you will not be able to create the zone.

If you are not happy with the geofence you can click on 'Change alert zone' to redraw the geofence.

Once you have filled in the information you can click 'Create alert' and then make it active.
